There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Meresta (13-19) rolled over 11th ranked Perlas-MRU (15-17) in Pakruojis 86-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Meresta. Perlas-MRU was better in fourth quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meresta had a 36-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Meresta made 7 blocks. Forward Darius Griskenas (194-84) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Four Meresta players scored in double figures. Forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and forward Antanas Udras (203-92) added 5 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Perlas-MRU. Perlas-MRU's coach Mindaugas Sakalauskas already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Meresta maintains thirteenth position in with 13-19 record. Loser Perlas-MRU keeps the eleventh place with 17 games lost. Meresta will face Silute (#14) at home in the next round.
