The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Fenerbahce (14-2) in Istanbul on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Mersin (8-8) 84-76. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Fenerbahce. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 22-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Tugba Palazoglu (171-80) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and American forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina) who added 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Angel McCoughtry (185-86, college: Louisville) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds and Australian forward Penny Taylor (185-81) scored 22 points. Mersin maintains sixth position with 8-8 record. Defending champion Fenerbahce still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with Galatasaray. Mersin are looking forward to face Optimum TED (#9) in Ankara in the next round. Fenerbahce will play on the road against the league's second-placed Galatasaray (#2) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
