The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Lemminkainen's (11-7) home victory over 5th ranked Utena (8-11) in Klaipeda 77-73 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 32-16. But Utena won second period 24-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Lemminkainen won last quarter 18-15. It was an exceptional evening for Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. point guard Rita Milieskiene (175-78) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Jurga Budryte (187-81) came up with 26 points (made all of her eight free throws) and the former international guard Egle Zygelyte (166-84) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Utena in the defeat. Five Lemminkainen and four Utena players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lemminkainen. They moved-up to third place. Utena lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Lemminkainen will meet at home Ruta Siauliai (#7) in the next round. Utena will play against Suduva in Marijampole and hope to secure a win.
