Regular Season Round 22: Giessen - TSV Troester 79-82

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked TSV Troester (9-10) edged on the road 12th ranked Giessen Pointers (2-17) 82-79 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 29-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. TSV Troester made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Giessen Pointers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Dion Harris (190-85, college: Michigan) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 5 assists. Forward Tobias Korndoerfer (200-90) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Derrick Stevens (180-80, college: Colorado St.) replied with 23 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and his fellow American import forward Jarrel Smith (200, college: Concordia Irvine) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Giessen Pointers. Giessen Pointers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TSV Troester moved-up to eighth place in Group South, which they share with Licher Baeren. Giessen Pointers lost fifteenth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 17 games lost. TSV Troester will face higher ranked BSW Sixers (#4) in Sandersdorf in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Giessen Pointers will play on the road against the league's leader Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
