Fifteenth-ranked Leitershofen (3-16) gave a tough game to first ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (16-3) in Diedorf on Sunday. The visitors from Weissenfels managed to secure only two-point victory 85-83. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Mitteldeutscher BC made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Icelandic guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (188-88) stepped up and scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Arizona Reid (196-86, college: High Point) chipped in 20 points. The best for the losing side was guard Jan Lipke (193-83, agency: Court Side) with 22 points and 4 assists and American center DeWayne Richardson (202-77, college: Fairmont St.) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Mitteldeutscher BC and five Leitershofen players scored in double figures. Mitteldeutscher BC have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-3 record. Newly promoted Leitershofen stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Mitteldeutscher BC are looking forward to face ETB Wohnbau (#11) in Essen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leitershofen will play at home against Science City Jena (#6) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
