Regular Season Round 23: Balikesir - Pamukkale 79-75

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Balikesir (10-12) defeated at home 10th ranked Pamukkale (9-12) 79-75 on Wednesday. Pamukkale was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Pamukkale was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Guard Yunus Akcay (-89) helped adding 18 points and 4 steals. Guard Goekhan Senol (183-84) responded with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Burak Sasmaz (-91) scored 17 points. Four Pamukkale players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Balikesir. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Darussafaka and Istanbul B.B. Pamukkale at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Balikesir will face Pertevniyal (#16) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pamukkale will play at home against Usak (#19).
