Second Stage Round 3: Perlas-MRU - Statyba 70-75

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Vilnius: Statyba (#10) and Perlas-MRU (#11). Perlas-MRU was defeated at home 70-75 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Perlas-MRU was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Statyba forced 20 Perlas-MRU turnovers. The best player for the winners was swingman Tadas Rinkunas (195-91) who scored 22 points. Forward Remigijus Sugintas (200-87) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Mantas Virbalas (203-88) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Tadas Padegimas (201-90) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Perlas-MRU's coach Mindaugas Sakalauskas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Statyba maintains tenth place in with 17-16 record. Loser Perlas-MRU dropped to the twelfth position with 18 games lost. Statyba will meet at home higher ranked Ezerunas-Karys (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Perlas-MRU will play against Silute and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
