LKL top team - Lietuvos rytas (14-2) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked Neptunas (6-9) in Klaipeda 91-85. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Neptunas won fourth quarter 26-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lietuvos rytas made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Lietuvos rytas outrebounded Neptunas 31-19 including 21 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll., agency: Priority Sports) who scored 14 points and 6 assists. International center Jonas Valanciunas (210-92) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Lietuvos rytas' coach Aleksandar Dzikic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Martynas Mazeika (193-85, agency: Limelight Hoops) who recorded 19 points and Latvian forward Arturs Brunins (198-82) added 17 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-2 record. Neptunas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Lietuvos rytas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Neptunas will play against the league's second-placed Zalgiris (#2) in Kaunas and hope to secure a win.
