Very expected game in Ankara where 14th ranked Gelisim (9-14) was defeated by fourth ranked Genc Telekom (17-6) 79-71 on Saturday. Gelisim trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 28-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-79 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Gelisim 36-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Genc Telekom looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Hazer Avci (206-87, agency: Court Side) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84, agency: TSS Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Genc Telekom players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) who recorded 21 points and 5 assists and guard Sertay Gursu (195-87, agency: EM-PA) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Gelisim's coach Deniz Atak rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Genc Telekom moved-up to third place. Loser Gelisim keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Genc Telekom will face Tire Gucu (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gelisim will play against Gaziantep.
