Regular Season Round 24: Baskent Genclik - Maliye Milli 74-86

There was no surprise in Ankara where 13th ranked Baskent Genclik (9-14) was defeated by seventh ranked Maliye Milli (15-8) 86-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-74. Maliye Milli looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Arthur Johnson (206-81, college: Missouri) who scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. The former international center Umit Turkoglu (211-81, agency: 1x1 Sports) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Maliye Milli players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Recai Ozturk (198-82) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and forward Melih Sevda (200-78) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Maliye Milli moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Final Genclik. Loser Baskent Genclik dropped to the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Maliye Milli will face Pamukkale (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baskent Genclik's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Ankara to the arena Optimum TED.
