Very important is a road loss of second ranked Hertener Loewen (14-7) against fifth ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (13-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Hertener Loewen was crushed by SG Schwelmer Baskets in Schwelm 109-69. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Hertener Loewen. The game without a history. SG Schwelmer Baskets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. SG Schwelmer Baskets had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Hertener Loewen's players. It was a great evening for American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) who led his team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Max Dohmen (201-88) helped adding 24 points and 5 rebounds. SG Schwelmer Baskets' coach Raphael Wilder felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Christoph Hackenesch (204-86) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and American center Raymond Wright (206-85, college: Ark.-Monticello) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SG Schwelmer Baskets maintains fifth place in Group North with 13-8 record. Loser Hertener Loewen dropped to the third position with seven games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets will face Dorsten (#6) at home in the next round. Hertener Loewen will play against BSV Wulfen.
