Regular Season Round 18: Lukoil Academik - Cherno More 96-89

NBL top team - Lukoil Academik (17-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Euroins Cherno More (9-9) in Sofia 96-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Euroins Cherno More. It looked good early as Euroins Cherno More took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lukoil Academik had a 29-19 second period charge getting the lead and Euroins Cherno More was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 89-96. Croatian center Bruno Sundov (221-80, agency: Alti Sport) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Brandon Heath (193-84, college: San Diego St.) supported him with 11 points and 11 assists. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by international forward Aleksandar Yanev (203-90, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Euroins Cherno More. The former international power forward Georgi Davidov (205-76) added 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Lukoil Academik and four Euroins Cherno More players scored in double figures. Euroins Cherno More's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-1 record. Euroins Cherno More at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Lukoil Academik will play against Tundja Yambol (#4) on the road in the next round. Euroins Cherno More will play against Balkan in Botevgrad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
