Regular Season Round 21: Iasi - Oradea 70-73

A very interesting game took place in Iasi. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 14th ranked Iasi (2-17) to fifteenth ranked Oradea (3-17) 73-70 in the fight for the fourteenth place. Iasi was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 24-16 charge of Oradea, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Iasi outrebounded Oradea 38-19 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Florentina Ardeleanu (171-83) who scored 36 points (!!!) and 4 steals. Center Mihaela Adi (190-88) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Ceciley Johnson (188, college: W.Texas A&M) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 21 rebounds and center Doinita Panait (182-90) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Four Iasi players scored in double figures. Oradea moved-up to fourteenth place. Iasi lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. Oradea's next round opponent will be higher ranked Olimpia (#13) in Bucuresti and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Iasi will play on the road against Brasov.
