There was a minor upset when higher ranked USC Heidelberg (9-11) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (9-11) 94-81 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-81. Cuxhaven BasCats forced 21 USC Heidelberg turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. USC Heidelberg was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Jackson Capel (191-87, college: Evangel) fired 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The other American import power forward Nate Gerwig (206-83, college: Kent St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Four Cuxhaven BasCats players scored in double figures. American forward Jerrell Williams (203-88, college: La Salle) produced 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and the former international power forward Bjoern Schoo (213-81, college: Northern St., agency: Court Side) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. USC Heidelberg's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cuxhaven BasCats moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated USC Heidelberg. USC Heidelberg lost fourth consecutive game. Cuxhaven BasCats will face league's leader Mitteldeutscher BC in Weissenfels in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
