Regular Season Round 24: Bernau - Bayer Giants 78-66

There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Bayer Giants (8-14) were defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked SSV Lok Bernau (2-20) 78-66 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-66. The best player for the winners was American power forward Martinis Woody (201-82, college: Benedict) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import guard Jermale Jones (186-86, college: Tuskegee) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. SSV Lok Bernau's coach Axel Rueber used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Till-Joscha Joenke (189-92) who recorded 12 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Casey Robinson (198-87, college: Alaska-Anch.) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Bayer Giants players scored in double figures. SSV Lok Bernau maintains thirteenth position with 2-20 record. Bayer Giants at the other side keep the eleventh place with 14 games lost. SSV Lok Bernau will meet higher ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bayer Giants will play against Dorsten and hope to secure a win.
