Very expected game when 8th ranked BSV Wulfen (10-13) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Hertener Loewen (15-7) 81-70 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Hertener Loewen. BSV Wulfen managed to win third quarter 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hertener Loewen made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by BSV Wulfen's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Zamal Nixon (185-89, college: Houston) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 assists. Forward Vincent Kittmann (199-88) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Steve Briggs (178-85, college: Okla.Wesleyan) who recorded 17 points and his fellow American import forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four BSV Wulfen players scored in double figures. Hertener Loewen moved-up to second place, which they share with SU Medien and Vechta. Newly promoted BSV Wulfen keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Hertener Loewen will meet at home Spot Up Medien Baskets (#4) in the next round. BSV Wulfen will have a break next round.
