Second Stage Round 5: Perlas-MRU - Ezerunas-Karys 66-56

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Ezerunas-Karys (18-17) lost to eleventh ranked Perlas-MRU (17-18) in Vilnius 56-66 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 23-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Power forward Mantas Virbalas (203-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Tadas Padegimas (201-90) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Tomas Lukosevicius (199-80) answered with 9 points and 9 rebounds and forward Andrius Slezas (200-75) added 9 points in the effort for Ezerunas-Karys. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Perlas-MRU maintains eleventh place in with 17-18 record. Newly promoted Ezerunas-Karys keeps the tenth position with 17 games lost. Perlas-MRU will face bottom-ranked ABRO-Universitetas (#16) in Siauliai in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
