Second Stage Round 6: Statyba - Meresta 84-86

There was an upset in Vilnius where higher ranked Statyba (18-18) was edged by thirteenth ranked Meresta (17-19) 86-84 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 21-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Statyba outrebounded Meresta 41-23 including 30 on the defensive glass. Ukrainian point guard Klym Artamonov (183-93) scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Darius Griskenas (194-84) chipped in 18 points and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Remigijus Sugintas (200-87) with 18 points and 8 rebounds and center Vitalijus Luksa (206-86) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Statyba's coach Gintautas Regina rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Meresta maintains thirteenth position in with 17-19 record. Loser Statyba dropped to the tenth place with 18 games lost. Meresta will face higher ranked Ezerunas-Karys (#11) in Moletai in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
