An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Herten. Second ranked Hertener Loewen faced 4th placed Spot Up Medien Baskets. Host Hertener Loewen (16-7) defeated guests from Braunschweig (15-8) 88-79. Spot Up Medien Baskets were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Hertener Loewen made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Vincent Kittmann (199-88) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Zamal Nixon (185-89, college: Houston) contributed with 19 points and 6 assists for the winners. Cuban swingman Howard Sant-Roos (198-91) answered with 28 points and 7 rebounds and center Frank Theis (200-82) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Spot Up Medien Baskets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hertener Loewen maintains second place in Group North with 16-7 record behind leader Gotha, which they share with Vechta. Spot Up Medien Baskets at the other side keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Hertener Loewen will play against SSV Lok Bernau (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Spot Up Medien Baskets will play against ALBA Berlin II (#12) and hope to get back on the winning track.
