Regular Season Round 25: Bayer Giants - Dorsten 63-68

There was no surprise in Leverkusen where 11th ranked Bayer Giants (8-15) were defeated by fifth ranked Dorsten (14-9) 68-63 on Saturday. Bayer Giants trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 24-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 63-68 at the end of the game. Dorsten dominated on the defensive end, holding Bayer Giants to just 7 points in second quarter. American center Blake Poole (195-88, college: St.Martin's, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Terry Bryant (186-85, college: SE Louisiana) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Guard Till-Joscha Joenke (189-92) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Farid Sadek (188-83) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Bayer Giants players scored in double figures. Dorsten have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Dorsten maintains fifth place in Group North with 14-9 record, which they share with Schwelm. Bayer Giants lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Dorsten will face higher ranked SC Rasta Vechta (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayer Giants will play against SG Schwelmer Baskets (#6).
