Regular Season Round 21: Slavia - Montana 2003 65-87

Bottom-ranked Slavia (0-17) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 87-65 loss to fourth ranked Montana 2003 (9-7) in Sofia on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-65. Montana 2003 outrebounded Slavia 48-33 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Montana 2003 especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international forward Natalia Topalova-Shopova (186-80) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and guard Radmila Nesheva (172-81) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Neli Pasheva (175-81) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists and the former international center Aleksandra Delcheva (202-87) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Slavia players scored in double figures. Montana 2003 maintains fourth place with 9-7 record. Slavia lost their seventeenth game in a row. They still closes the standings. Montana 2003 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Slavia will play against Rilski Sportist (#6) in Samokov and hopes to get finally their first victory.
