Regular Season Round 26: Pertevniyal - Maliye Milli 64-81

There was no surprise in Istanbul where 12th ranked Pertevniyal (10-15) was defeated by fifth ranked Maliye Milli (17-8) 81-64. Maliye Milli dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Pertevniyal's 30 and made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Maliye Milli players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Guard Caner Erdeniz (188-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 6 rebounds. The former international center Umit Turkoglu (211-81, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four Maliye Milli players scored in double figures. American center Dennis Williams (198, college: MSU Moorhead) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and center Ramazan Tekin (212-93) added 8 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Pertevniyal. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maliye Milli have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 17-8 record. Pertevniyal at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 15 games lost. Maliye Milli's next round opponent will be Akhisar Bld (#6) at home. Pertevniyal will play against the league's second-placed Optimum TED (#2) in Ankara.
