Second Stage Round 7: ABRO-Univ. - Gargzdai 62-65

A very interesting game took place in Siauliai. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 16th ranked ABRO-Universitetas (7-30) to fifteenth ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (10-27) 65-62 in the fight for the fifteenth place. The guests were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 6-point deficit before their 18-9 run, which allowed them to win the game. Gargzdai-Bremena outrebounded ABRO-Universitetas 51-28 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Egidijus Ramanauskas (202-88) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. Swingman Tadas Mazelis (194-92) accounted for 14 points for the winning side. Gargzdai-Bremena's coach Rytas Vaisvila allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center Agnius Gurklys (205-88) came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds and guard Rokas Giedraitis (195-92) added 14 points respectively for ABRO-Universitetas in the defeat. Four ABRO-Universitetas players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Gargzdai-Bremena maintains fifteenth place in with 10-27 record. ABRO-Universitetas at the other side stay dead last with 30 lost games. Gargzdai-Bremena will have a break next round. ABRO-Universitetas will play again on the road against Gargzdai-Bremena (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
