Regular Season Round 24: Crailsheim - Braves 88-79
Date: February 25, 2012
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Crailsheim Merlins (15-8) won against at home 14th ranked Saar-Pfalz Braves (6-17) 88-79 on Saturday. The game without a history. Crailsheim Merlins led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Darryl Webb (198-88, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Pro One Sports) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and naturalized American forward Joseph Buck (201-81, college: USC) who added 11 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Five Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Ingo Enskat used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was British-Australian guard Lee Jeka (187-83, agency: Limelight Hoops) with 15 points and 5 assists and American center Travis Reed (203-79, college: Long Beach St., agency: Court Side) scored 17 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Crailsheim Merlins maintains third position with 15-8 record having just two points less than leader MBC. Loser Saar-Pfalz Braves keep the fourteenth place with 17 games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will face Science City Jena (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Saar-Pfalz Braves will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#12) in Allmendingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
