Second Stage Round 8: LKKA-Atletas - Zalgiris-Sabonio 94-72

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kaunas: LKKA-Atletas (#4) and Zalgiris-Sabonio (#6). LKKA-Atletas (23-15) smashed visiting Zalgiris-Sabonio (21-17) by 22 points 94-72. It looked good early as Zalgiris-Sabonio took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then LKKA-Atletas had a 30-18 second period charge getting the lead and Zalgiris-Sabonio was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-94. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sarunas Vingelis (192-89) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and center Tomas Urbonas (218-92) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four LKKA-Atletas players scored in double figures. Forward Vaidas Kariniauskas (198-93) responded with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Tauras Jogela (201-93) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Tomas Masiulis gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. LKKA-Atletas moved-up to third place in . Zalgiris-Sabonio at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
