Eighth ranked ETB Wohnbau won an overtime thriller edging 7th ranked Science City Jena by one point 88-87 on Sunday night. Science City Jena was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 20-18 charge of ETB Wohnbau, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-13. ETB Wohnbau forced 20 Science City Jena turnovers. Strangely Science City Jena outrebounded ETB Wohnbau 39-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. Science City Jena was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Chris Alexander (186-83, college: Southern) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Canadian-Bosnian guard Diego Kapelan (190-87, college: McNeese St.) who added 22 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Jeremy Black (203-85, college: Tampa, agency: Court Side) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Kenny Barker (191-86, college: Alaska-Anch.) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Science City Jena's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. ETB Wohnbau have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Duesseldorf. Science City Jena at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. ETB Wohnbau will face Cuxhaven BasCats (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Science City Jena will play against Crailsheim Merlins (#3).
