Regular Season Round 29: Hoverla - Mykolaiv 84-71

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Hoverla (17-12) beat 10th ranked Mykolaiv (11-20) in Frankivsk 84-71. It looked good early as Mykolaiv took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hoverla had a 24-8 second period charge getting the lead and Mykolaiv was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-84. Hoverla dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mykolaiv's 30. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Mykolaiv helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was swingman Kevin Tiggs (196-84, college: E.Tenn.St.) who scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Brian Greene (195-83, college: Florida A&M) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Four Hoverla players scored in double figures. point guard Jerome Coleman (187-81, college: Rutgers) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Rodney Green (195-88, college: La Salle) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hoverla moved-up to sixth place. Mykolaiv lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 20 games lost. Hoverla's next round opponent will be higher ranked BC Odessa (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mykolaiv will play against Halychyna (#14) in Lviv.
