Regular Season Round 24: Slavia - Levski 84-88

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Sofia: Levski (#5) and Slavia (#7). Slavia was defeated at home 84-88 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Slavia won fourth quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Levski made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American guard Juanita Ward (180-86, college: Syracuse, agency: Merit Sports) who led her team to a victory with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Petya Djambazka (178-77) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. The former international forward Neli Pasheva (175-81) replied with 19 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the former international center Aleksandra Delcheva (202-87) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Slavia. Four Levski and five Slavia players scored in double figures. Levski maintains fifth position with 9-11 record. Slavia at the other side still closes the standings. Levski will play against higher ranked Montana 2003 (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Slavia will play against the league's leader Dunav 8806 in Ruse and hopes to get finally their first victory.
