Fourth-ranked Montana 2003 (10-8) made lots of trouble for second ranked Neftochimic (16-4) on Sunday. The visitors from Burgas managed to secure only one-point victory 81-80. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Montana 2003. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 18-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Neftochimic made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian forward Katerina Dorogobuzova (187-90, agency: LBM Management) who scored 28 points and 6 rebounds. The former international swingman Maria Tsankova (180-88, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Dimana Makarieva (188-88) who recorded 21 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Natalia Topalova-Shopova (186-80) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second position with 16-4 record having just one points less than leader Dunav 8806. Montana 2003 at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Neftochimic are looking forward to face Rilski Sportist (#6) in Samokov in the next round. Montana 2003 will play on the road against Levski in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
