D1 top team - CSM Targoviste (22-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fourteenth ranked Iasi (3-20) 111-44. The game without a history. CSM Targoviste led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Iasi to just 2 points in third quarter and to 13 points in second half. CSM Targoviste dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Iasi's 26. CSM Targoviste forced 34 Iasi turnovers and outrebounded them 38-21 including 17 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Iasi's players. The former international guard Florina Diaconu (176-82) notched 14 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and American forward Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) supported her with 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five CSM Targoviste players scored in double figures. CSM Targoviste's coach Florin Nini felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Danielle Walker (178-86, college: Clark Atlanta) did not help to save the game for Iasi. Her fellow American import center Ceciley Johnson (188-87, college: W.Texas A&M) added 7 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. CSM Targoviste have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-1 record. Iasi at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 20 games lost. CSM Targoviste will play against Olimpia (#13) in Bucuresti in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Iasi will play at home against Satu Mare and hopes to get back on the winning track.
