No shocking result in a game when twelfth ranked Meresta (20-21) beat on the road 14th ranked Silute (15-26) 97-89 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Silute won third quarter 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Meresta won last quarter 25-19. Strangely Silute outrebounded Meresta 37-23 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ukrainian point guard Klym Artamonov (183-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) contributed with 18 points and 7 assists for the winners. Center Ramunas Rackauskas (205-87) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Evaldas Saulys (193-93) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Silute. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Meresta maintains twelfth place in with 20-21 record. Loser Silute keeps the fourteenth position with 26 games lost. Meresta will face bottom-ranked ABRO-Universitetas (#16) in Siauliai in the next round. Silute will play on the road against Perlas-MRU in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
