No shocking result in a game when eleventh ranked Istanbul B.B. (13-16) beat 15th ranked Baskent Genclik (10-19) in Ankara 78-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-74. Strangely Baskent Genclik outrebounded Istanbul B.B. 44-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Recep Dogrusoez (-86) who led his team to a victory with 24 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Serbian power forward Marko Kolaric (213-84, college: Chaminade) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Istanbul B.B. players scored in double figures. Forward Recai Ozturk (198-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and forward Melih Sevda (200-78) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Baskent Genclik. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Istanbul B.B. moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Darussafaka and Balikesir. Baskent Genclik lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 19 games lost. Istanbul B.B. will face Pamukkale (#15) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Baskent Genclik will play against Vestel in Manisa.
