Regular Season Round 26: Cuxhaven - Jena 90-98

Everything went according to plan when eleventh ranked Science City Jena (12-13) defeated on the road 13th ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (9-15) 98-90 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cuxhaven BasCats won third quarter 18-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Science City Jena made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. American guard Kenny Barker (191-86, college: Alaska-Anch.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 4 assists. Canadian guard Tyler Kepkay (183-87, college: Utah, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) contributed with 16 points and 6 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. American power forward Nate Gerwig (206-83, college: Kent St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import guard Jackson Capel (191-87, college: Evangel) added 24 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Cuxhaven BasCats. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Science City Jena moved-up to ninth place. Cuxhaven BasCats lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Science City Jena will face Ehingen/Urspringschule (#12) in Allmendingen in the next round. Cuxhaven BasCats will play on the road against Webmoebel Baskets in Paderborn.
