There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (14-29) edged at home higher ranked Meresta (21-22) 81-79 on Friday. Meresta was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 27-24 charge of Gargzdai-Bremena, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Laurynas Lucinskas (201-93) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Tadas Mazelis (194-92) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Center Aivaras Galkauskas (203-91) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Darius Griskenas (194-84) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Gargzdai-Bremena maintains fifteenth place in with 14-29 record. Loser Meresta dropped to the twelfth position with 22 games lost. Gargzdai-Bremena will face higher ranked Silute (#14) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
