Another exciting game where sixth ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (24-19) edged by one point 7th ranked Mazeikiai (23-20) 87-86. Mazeikiai was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Mazeikiai 40-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. Mazeikiai was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Vaidas Kariniauskas (198-93) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Marius Grigonis (194-94) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Tomas Masiulis used entire bench in such tough game. American swingman Calvin Brock (196-86, college: Illinois) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and forward Janas Jurgo (200-83) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mazeikiai. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zalgiris-Sabonio maintains sixth place in with 24-19 record. Mazeikiai at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 20 games lost. Zalgiris-Sabonio will play against Triobet (#7) in Jonava in the next round. Mazeikiai will play on the road against the league's second-placed Radviliskis and hopes to get back on the winning track.
