Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Trabzonspor (5-18) lost to eleventh ranked Hacettepe Univ. (9-14) in Ankara 74-78 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Trabzonspor was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 24-14 charge of Hacettepe Univ., which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 22 Trabzonspor turnovers. Strangely Trabzonspor outrebounded Hacettepe Univ. 43-24 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American-Georgian swingman Melvin Sanders (196-81, college: Oklahoma St., agency: FCM) who led the winners and scored 29 points and 7 rebounds. Ghanian-British forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, college: Washington, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American center Elton Brown (206-83, college: Virginia) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 21 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Jonathan Gibson (182-87, college: N.Mexico St.) added 23 points and 6 assists respectively for Trabzonspor in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Hacettepe Univ. maintains eleventh place with 9-14 record. Trabzonspor lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Hacettepe Univ. will meet Antalya (#14) on the road in the next round. Trabzonspor will play against the league's second-placed Anadolu Efes and will have a slim chance for a victory.
