Second Stage Round 14: Suduva-Mantinga - LKKA-Atletas 78-71

NKL round 14 caused change at the leadership position. Seventeenth defeat of league's leader LKKA-Atletas (27-17) against fourth ranked Matinga-Juod. (26-18) 78-71 was the most important game of the last round. LKKA-Atletas trailed by 20 points after 3 quarters before a 25-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-78 at the end of the game. Matinga-Juod. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to LKKA-Atletas' 34. They outrebounded LKKA-Atletas 46-29 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Aurimas Birgelis (190-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 5 assists. Center Mindaugas Kalvelis (205-80) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Vidmantas Sragauskis (200-86) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds and guard Sarunas Vingelis (192-89) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for LKKA-Atletas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Matinga-Juod. maintains fourth position in with 26-18 record. LKKA-Atletas at the other side dropped to the second place with 17 games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Radviliskis.
