Regular Season Round 28: Sportlitsey - VolinBasket 63-79

Higher League top team - VolinBasket (21-4) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Sportlitsey (5-20) in Bila Tserkva 79-63. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The winners were led by point guard Vladimir Zhurzhiy (182-78) who scored that evening 22 points and center Mikhailo Nejzhmak (207-87) supported him with 10 points and 6 rebounds. VolinBasket's coach Sergei Smityukh used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points and 7 assists by swingman Vladislav Baljasnikov (194-89) did not help to save the game for Sportlitsey. Guard Yaroslav Kuzmienko (185-93) added 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Four Sportlitsey players scored in double figures. VolinBasket have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Despite that victory VolinBasket went down to second position due to points difference. Sportlitsey lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 20 games lost. VolinBasket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sportlitsey will play again against the league's second-placed VolinBasket (#2) in Lutsk and hope to secure a win.
