Regular Season Round 34: Dnipro - BC Kyiv 95-82

Rather expected game in Dnepropetrovsk where 9th ranked BC Kyiv (16-17) was defeated by seventh ranked Dnipro (19-16) 95-82. It looked good early as BC Kyiv took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Dnipro had a 40-24 second period charge getting the lead and BC Kyiv was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-95. Dnipro made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Dnipro especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. BC Kyiv was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Steven Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 assists. American point guard Derrick Low (188-86, college: Washington St.) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Vernon Goodridge (206-84, college: La Salle) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and his fellow American import guard Derrick Zimmerman (191-81, college: Mississippi St.) added 10 points and 7 assists in the effort for BC Kyiv. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dnipro maintains seventh position with 19-16 record. BC Kyiv at the other side keeps the ninth place with 17 games lost. Dnipro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BC Kyiv will play at home against DniproAzot (#12) in Dniprodzerzhynsk and hopes to get back on the winning track.
