No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Euroins Cherno More (10-13) beat bottom-ranked Chernomorets (2-21) in Varna 82-76 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Chernomorets won second period 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Tihomir Zhelev (192-90) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Nikolay Kolev (204-88) accounted for 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Euroins Cherno More's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FYR Macedonian center Kiril Pavlovski (210-85, agency: Global Sports Plaza) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Atanas Penev (195-85) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for Chernomorets in the defeat. Four Euroins Cherno More and five Chernomorets players scored in double figures. Euroins Cherno More maintains fifth place with 10-13 record. Chernomorets lost their thirteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Euroins Cherno More will meet higher ranked Tundja Yambol (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chernomorets will play against Spartak Pleven (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
