Regular Season Round 24: Mersin - Erdemir 98-81

An interesting game took place in Akdeniz where 9th ranked Erdemir (10-14) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Mersin (9-15) 98-81 on Saturday. The game without a history. Mersin led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 66.7 percent from the field. Mersin shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Omar Sneed (198-76, college: Memphis) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. The former international center Asim Pars (212-76, agency: World Sport Agency) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward KZell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and the former international power forward Mutlu Akpinar (203-83) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Mersin and four Erdemir players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mersin moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Hacettepe Univ. Erdemir lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 14 games lost. Mersin will meet higher ranked Aliaga (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Erdemir will play against Karsiyaka and hope to secure a win.
