Regular Season Round 23: Levski Sofia - Lukoil Academik 53-62

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sofia: Lukoil Academik (#1) and Levski Sofia (#2). Levski Sofia was defeated at home 53-62 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Levski Sofia. Levski Sofia trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 10-8 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 53-62 at the end of the game. The former international guard Andre Owens (193-80, college: Houston) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Brandon Heath (193-84, college: San Diego St.) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American swingman Aaron Harper (199-81, college: Mississippi, agency: Strategic Sports) answered with 7 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Marcus Hall (185-85, college: Colorado) added 10 points in the effort for Levski Sofia. Lukoil Academik have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-2 record. Levski Sofia at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Lukoil Academik are looking forward to face Rilski Sportist (#3) in Samokov in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Levski Sofia will play on the road against Balkan in Botevgrad and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
