Regular Season Round 29: Crailsheim - Heidelberg 82-81

Ninth-ranked USC Heidelberg (13-14) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (17-10). Crailsheim Merlins managed to secure only one-point victory 82-81. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of USC Heidelberg. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. They outrebounded USC Heidelberg 43-25 including 19 on the offensive glass. Crailsheim Merlins players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Naturalized American forward Joseph Buck (201-81, college: USC) nailed 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Mark Hill (180, college: CS Northridge) accounted for 12 points. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Ingo Enskat used entire bench in such tough game. American forward Jerrell Williams (203-88, college: La Salle) came up with 24 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Sanijay Watts (193-87, college: Central Mo., agency: Limelight Hoops) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively for USC Heidelberg in the defeat. Crailsheim Merlins maintains fourth place with 17-10 record. USC Heidelberg at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Crailsheim Merlins' next round opponent will be league's leader Mitteldeutscher BC in Weissenfels and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. USC Heidelberg will play at home against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#12) in Allmendingen.
