Regular Season Round 29: NBC - Leitershofen 77-89

Bottom-ranked Leitershofen managed to get a seventh victory, breaking the series of two consecutive loses. This time newly promoted Leitershofen won against eleventh-ranked NBC in Nurnberg 89-77. It looked good early as NBC took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Leitershofen had a 22-19 second period charge getting the lead and NBC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-89. Leitershofen made 34-of-39 charity shots (87.2 percent) during the game, while NBC only scored fourteen points from the stripe. NBC was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American center DeWayne Richardson (202-77, college: Fairmont St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Center Andreas Kronhardt (204-89) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Nigerian forward Ike Okoye (206, college: Boise St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Will Chavis (181-81, college: Texas Tech) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for NBC. Five Leitershofen and four NBC players scored in double figures. NBC's coach Derrick Taylor rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Leitershofen (7-20) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Braves. NBC lost fourth consecutive game. NBC at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. They share it with Ehingen. Leitershofen will play against Saar-Pfalz Braves (#14) in Homburg in the next round. NBC will play on the road against ETB Wohnbau in Essen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
