Regular Season Round 35: Hoverla - Azovmash 71-69

The most exciting game of round 35 in the Superleague took place in Frankivsk. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Azovmash (23-12) to eighth ranked Hoverla (19-16) 71-69 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Azovmash. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 24-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Azovmash helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Brian Greene (195-83, college: Florida A&M) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Dante Swanson (178-81, college: Tulsa) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Hoverla players scored in double figures. The former international guard Artur Drozdov (199-80) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Liberian-American forward Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee services) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Azovmash. Azovmash's coach Luca Bechi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hoverla moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Dnipro. Azovmash at the other side keeps the third position with 12 games lost. Hoverla is looking forward to face Dnipro (#7) in Dnepropetrovsk in the next round. Azovmash will play at home against the league's leader Budivelnyk (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
