Regular Season Round 29: ALBA - B.Muenchen 73-52
Date: March 31, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Bayern Muenchen (17-12) was outplayed on the road by third ranked ALBA Berlin (23-6) 73-52 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-52. ALBA Berlin made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The former international forward Yassin Idbihi (208-83, college: Buffalo) stepped up and scored 17 points for the winners and Serbian forward Marko Simonovic (202-86, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. American-Bulgarian center Jared Homan (206-83, college: Iowa St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Chevon Troutman (202-81, college: Pittsburgh, agency: ACMT) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ALBA Berlin have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Ratiopharm. Newly promoted Bayern Muenchen keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. ALBA Berlin will meet at home LTi 46ers (#17) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Bayern Muenchen will play against Telekom Baskets (#8) in Bonn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
