Second Stage Round 3: Krka - Elektra 80-82

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Krka (2-1) in Novo Mesto on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Elektra (1-2) 82-80. Krka was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Elektra shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. 28 personal fouls committed by Krka helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Serbian forward Dorde Lelic (197-89) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Tadej Horvat (196-87) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Five Elektra players scored in double figures. Power forward Smiljan Pavic (210-80) answered with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Jure Balazic (204-80) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Krka. Krka's coach Aleksandar Sekulic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Elektra maintains fifth place in League with 1-2 record. Defending champion Krka dropped to the third position with one game lost. Elektra are looking forward to face higher ranked Zlatorog (#4) in Lasko in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Krka will play on the road against the league's second-placed Helios in Domzale and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
