Quarter-Finals Round 1: Monthey - Boncourt 86-61

Date: March 31, 2012
Monthey grabbed the first win in the quarterfinal series versus Boncourt. It looked good early as Boncourt took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Monthey had a 24-10 second period charge getting the lead and Boncourt was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-86. Monthey forced 24 Boncourt turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Monthey especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Ian Boylan (197-83, college: CS Northridge) who helped to win the game recording 32 points, 6 assists and 7 steals (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Monthey players scored in double figures. Serbian-Bosnian center Nemanja Calasan (203-85, college: Purdue) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard John Sharper (186-84, college: San Diego St.) added 19 points in the effort for Boncourt. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
