Diallo's 18-point Finals MVP caps redemption season as Bernex claim U18 crown-May 25, 2026
Bernex Basket are the 2025-26 Swiss U18 champions, beating Academie Fribourg 76-63 in the Final Four title game behind Ibrahim Diallo (201-F-2008)'s 18-point Finals MVP performance sweet revenge for the captain after losing the Cup final earlier in the season.
Diallo was the driving force throughout, leading from the front with the composure and intensity that defined his season. The guard praised as an exemplary captain in behaviour, a leader on the court, and an ultra-impactful player delivered when it mattered most, illuminating the championship game from start to finish.
Bernex controlled the contest from the opening minutes, building a 37-31 halftime advantage. A balanced 18-13 third quarter maintained the cushion before Bernex pulled away with a 22-19 fourth-quarter push to seal the 13-point victory. The 76-63 margin reflected Bernex's superiority on both ends as Fribourg could not find the firepower to close the gap once it opened.
In the third-place game, SAM Basket Massagno CPE beat Lions de Geneve (powered by Grand-Saconnex) 76-67 to claim the bronze medal. Massagno led 41-32 at halftime and held off a Lions rally in the second half to secure the podium finish.
