Regular Season Round 20: Oliveirense - Sangalhos 74-40

There was a minor upset in Oliveira where one of their biggest challengers Sangalhos (11-9) were crushed by seventh ranked Oliveirense (11-9) 74-40 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Oliveirense. Sangalhos was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sangalhos to just 6 points in fourth quarter and to 14 points in second half. They outrebounded Sangalhos 48-29 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Spencer Johnson (198-87, college: UMKC) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds. The other American import forward Deantre Jefferson (203-88, college: Chattanooga) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Oliveirense players scored in double figures. Guard Andre Duarte (178-81) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and forward Nuno Bizarro (192-80) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Oliveirense moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Sangalhos. Oliveirense will face Fisica (#8) in Torres Vedras in the next round. Sangalhos will play on the road against Angrabasket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
